Hi Hemanth,

There are a couple of ways to do this:

-The easiest way is to use a bridge. The one I use is the Netgear WNCE2001:

- The second method is to bridge the network in your PC, by telling Windows to share the connection
   and pluging the RRC into the ethernet port on the PC. Use Google to find instructions for your Windows
   version, it can be tricky. I have had bad luck trying to do this with XP, but supposedly newer Windows
   are easier to implement.

Yet another way would be to not drag the RRC and TS-480 head along, but instead use the PC Client
along with software control: http://www.remoterig.com/wp/?page_id=28. This also solves the problem
of using WiFi where you have to pay, or if you need to use a VPN.

I personally use both, depending upon where I am traveling to (car or plane) and how long I will be
staying. I have an extra case with an RRC built-in, where the head, etc. are stored. I also have a
PC Client when this is not convenient.

Hi Franco,

I have a similar problem that I have traced to having an SPE Expert on COM1. It
causes a loud buzz/hum that kills the connection. See:

In my case, it only occurs on firmware 2.41 and when the USB plug is used (not
the serial cable) on the control RRC COM2. When I unplug the USB cable, it works
again. Are these the same conditions you are using? Maybe our problems are
related and can help the guys in Sweden. They have been directly in contact with
me and I sent them details last week.

Hi Steve,

It sounds like the other box still has a fixed internal IP number, so it probably just needs
to be changed to DHCP.

In either case, just use the Microbit Setup Manager via USB. This allows you to change to DHCP,
call-up the IP address and have the browser go directly to the box. It looks like you already are
using the Setup Manager, so just make sure that DHCP is turned on.

Hi Eric,

That is very strange.....I would try to connect one directly, anyway, just to see if
it works or not. Maybe there is a firmware update for the Orange Livebox that fixes
the problem, or else you can change the Livebox to a different method of encryption,
such as WPA instead of WPA2. I know I wouldn't give up so easily, but I am a masochist
sometimes. 

Either way, I have had good luck with the WNCE2001 so far.

Hi Eric,

I see that no one answered you yet.

Basically, if you have the routers set to bridge mode, then the end devices will receive their
IP addresses from the main router. The bridge should not have DHCP turned-on. This is how
the WNCE2001 works, and is not how you described it. Check the Linksys boxes to make sure
that they are in bridge mode!

The easiest thing then to do is to let DHCP on the main router provide the internal IP addresses,
then just go into the router and make them fixed. That way, you know that the settings are correct and
that the router knows where they are. I have found that inexperienced people trying to set IP
addresses mess things up 90% of the time. Just keep it simple and you should be ok.

This network stuff can be really confusing and I have seen people give-up and sell their RemoteRig
boxes, since they could never get them working. Just keep cool, and you should get help from
someone.

Send me the control RRC settings to look at. The only thing that comes quickly to mind
is that you don't have the radio-RRC's IP address/DynDNS address entered.

move the users over to the new firmware once this is resolved.

The jumpers are clearly marked on the photos on page 20 - 22. They are so large, that maybe
you overlooked them? They are much easier to set than the straps. They are jumpers like what
you find in computers and similar equipment.

Just a general tip from my side: Just because the RRC box allows one to run a higher
quality codec doesn't mean that one has to use it. I have installed several stations and
have kept the codec at 0 to minimize the bandwidth used. For normal SSB and CW work,
this codec is more than adequate and will allow the flexibility to work with unknown or low
remote bandwidth without audio drops.

Appendix A of the manual lists the codecs and bandwidth, so you can see the effect of reducing
the codec quality. I would think a higher bandwidth would only make sense with FM, ESSB or when
you have known high-speed fixed control and radio bandwidths.

Remember also that this is doubled, up and down! Most DSL lines are asynchronous and have a lot less
bandwidth going up than down, but the internet provider usually only advertises the down speed. You
need therefore to take into account that the bandwidth used by RemoteRig  is the same in both directions.

A corollary is the serial ports sent over the RRC, including CAT. It is not always necessary to run them
at 57,600 bp/s! When possible, reduce them down to 4800 bp/s and reduce your bandwidth that way.
