General discussion / Re: RemoteRig 1274A and Windows 8.1?

More news.....I discovered the original Remoterig cable still in the 1274A box.  This is the cable with the nice, rubbery texture.  The bad cable that I used initially was from dark, dusty place in my ham shack.

RemoteRig is absolved.  Beware of bad cables!

Hi Roland. Thanks for your response.  I performed the steps in the link to which you referred me.  Sometimes my computers would recognize the 1274A, but mostly not.

Behavior like this on three of my computers lead me to believe that I have bad hardware.  Reading further in the linked webpage I read that I should try a different cable:  "7.  Replace the data cable that connects the device to the computer, assuming it has one. This potential fix for a Code 43 error is most often useful if you're seeing the error on an external device like a USB or FireWire device."

I tried a new cable.  Boom!  My laptop recognizes the 1274A quickly and dependably.

It seems that I got a bad USB A to USB Mini cable.  It is not the quality, rubbery feel of the cable that came with my 1258MkIIs.  When I used this cable that came with the 1258MkIIs, all is okay.

Do you want me to return the bad cable to you?

And now, my Windows 7 desktop will not recognize the 1274A.  I get Code 43:  device reports problem.

I am having trouble with my Windows 8.1 ultrabook (USB3) identifying the RemoteRig 1274A.  The Codec/PTT box works great with Windows 7 and USB3 on my desktop PC.

Are you having difficulties?
