Steppir and COM1
« on: 2011-11-03, 18:48:53 »
Hello,

I plan to control a Steppir SDA100 controller through the RR1258 Com1 port, using N8LP or similar software. I don't want to use a connection to the transceiver, since I only want to change the antenna manually.

The usual cabling to a PC is a cross-over to the Data Out connector of SDA100.

However, I just learned that Com1 pins at RRC1258 are already reversed (pin 2 is Tx and 3 is Rx). So I figure what I need is a straight cable from Com1 to Sda DataOut. Is that correct?

COM1                      SDA100 DataOut
  2 (Tx)   ----------------  2 (Rx)
  3 (Rx)  ----------------- 3 (Tx)
  5 (Gnd)  ---------------- 5 (Gnd)

Thanks
Marcelo, PY1KN

Mike,

The new interface sure does look interesting.

If I understood it correctly, the main benefits are the possibility of switching Automatic/Manual control and the web interface, right?
