There is no support for IC-706 in the RRC-Nano.

I am not asking for support for the RRC-nano.

The Support is for the RRC-1258 for this entire thread.

Hi, I must have mixed up the windows, I was answering some other question, no there are no other trick, Both the RRC com2 should be set to mode 2 (CI-V) and all baudrates should be set to the same, remember to set the correct CI-V addresses also. Do not use autobaud. The IC-706 must be switched on from the frontpanel so the connection is up.

You could try to connect with a PC-direct to the CT-17 to check that all settings outside the RRC are correct before you conenct via the RRCs.

Mike:

So we should be using Mode 2 instead of mode 1 like you stated first.

Now I will go in and make sure the 706 is set up right.

So the CV-I address should be 48H. CV-I baud should be manually set to 9600.

Si will make sure those are right then let you know.

Mike:

Here is where we are at right now.

Still no Connection between Radio and HRD.
The IC-706 is set for 9600 baud and the CI-V is set at 48H.

HRD is just not finding the radio.

I am investigating the Cable from the CT-17 to the RCC. It has a DB25 that plugs into the CT-17 then it changes to a DB9 to plug into the RCC.

The instructions for the CT-17 says that it needs a RS232C cable.

I have no idea if this cable is what they are saying it needs. Researching the cables there are 2 types: Null Modem rs232 and a programming rs232.

I do not know what I have in my cable. I do have a null modem adapter.

What are your thoughts??

Yes it should NOT be a null modem cable

Start with connecting the radio direct to the PC via the CT-17 and verify that the settings are correct, before you try with the RRCs

Mike:

I understand what you are trying to have me do.

But, the radio is at my house and the PC is at my dad's.

Which settings are you having me check, the radio or the Computer or the CT-17??

Mike:

After thinking this over, you want me to take the Radio body and the CT-17 to my dad's QTH and hook it up to the computer and make sure it will connect with HRD without Remoterig.

Correct?

Mike:

Was able to get the radio and the CT-17 to my dads QTH today and get them hooked up.
At first they were not working as in HRD would not recognize the radio.

We changed cables and it made the connection!!!

Brought everything back to my QTH. Hooked everything up and it is working!!!

I have told my Dad to play around with it all today and make sure everything is working.

Tomorrow we will hook up the siganlink and see what happens.

Thanks

Mike:

So far everything was still working since my last post.
Yesterday, we hooked up the Signalink and had it transmitting and receiving digital.

Funny story, my dad was in the middle of making his first QSO on digital when the power went out.
Everything was on back up power accept the Signalink and the RCC Control head.
Now everything is on back up power. It was just one of those things we missed in trying to get everything to work.
The other ham did email and they confirmed the QSO.

Thanks for all your help and patients getting us through this. ;)
