DYNDNS STATUS - V. 2.28
« on: 2010-12-12, 17:16:53 »
Thank's for upgrading of software for RRC 1258MkII. Never the less, for me, an "non software progarmming" user, it is rather difficult to understand the "message" in the DUNDNS status. Below you can find what my RRC tells me:

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Content-Type: text/html
Server: DynDNS-CheckIP/1.0
Connection: close
Cache-Control: no-cache
Pragma: no-cache
Content-Length: 105

<html><head><title>Current IP Check</title></head><body>Current IP Address: 178.72.43.201

Is this correct or not? What is important to look for here?

Per,

The whole purpose with the DYNDns status link is in case there is some kind of error. If you see:

"DynDns status   OK"

then the info you get by clicking the link most likely shows the expected valid reply from the DYNDns system.

So you really don't need to know something about the "programming details" in that status, just be able to retrieve it and give it to us in case there is something wrong.

The status messages "DynDns status Unknown" or ""DynDns status Error" would have made the status link info "interesting"  ;)

As for what to look for in that message: It is several pieces of that message which need to be valid and present for the DynDNS status to be considered ok.
Always include type of hard/software and version when asking for support.

Jan.

Thank's for your polite answer.
Anyway, from time to time the status is : DynDns status: unknown.
But i beleive this also depends on the internet connection. I use ICE wireless connection to internet here in Norway. From time to time this has been unstable, but has been stabilised with new hardware as well as software in the bases.
If DynDns status continue with "Unknown" i will get back to you.
Normally it goes back to "OK" after a reboote of the RRC.

Per.

You dont need to reboot to get an updated status page. Go to info and back to status.
That will give you an updated status page.

In a couple of days i have had "ERROR" on DynDns status.
This is the status:

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Content-Type: text/html
Server: DynDNS-CheckIP/1.0
Connection: close
Cache-Control: no-cache
Pragma: no-cache
Content-Length: 105

<html><head><title>Current IP Check</title></head><body>Current IP Address: 178.72.43.201

Can you see enything wrong here? I do have connection with the RRC unit and the radio.

That DynDNS reply/status text is OK as such. The problem here is that you most likely don't get any more replies after the last one that was ok, and so the exact reason for the failure in your specific case remains unknown. Seems we need to add even more status info in order to pinpoint failures like this.
