Hello to the group.

I am trying to load a copy of the 2.91 beta software for the RRC-1258. Unfortunately the link to the software contained in this thread does not seem to work.

RRC-1258 version 2.91 from here: www.remoterig.com/firmwares/RRC1258-CRC-v2.91_2016-05-12-BETA.zip

Where can I download a copy of the software?

Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone.

Sorry for the bandwidth but I neglected to indicate in my original response to W9AC that the reason I was able to solve my CW issue was due to a post by Max NG7M (http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=4902.0) who found the cw transmit problem and was good enough to post the solution.

Hi Paul. I had a similar issue a couple of weeks ago.

In my case, the problem was that the KEY DELAY setting in my RRC CONTROL unit KEYER settings was at 0. I changed it to anything but 0 (try 25 or 50 ms) and the problem disappeared.

Give that a try and let us know. Good luck.

Hello to the group.

Well after some very frustrating sessions with various contest and logging software together with what seemed endless attempts at various settings in both the remote rig units and the contesting/logging software I was able to solve the cw problem. The only reason I solved it was that I came across the post by Max - NG7M in the RR forum which discussed an issue similar to the one I was experiencing :  http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=4902.0

Turns out that my KEY DELAY setting in my RRC CONTROL unit KEYER settings was at 0. I do not recall changing this value from the default. After reading the post by NG7M I changed my setting to 25 ms and voila! It worked! CW sounds fine when sent from logging/contesting programs and via paddle!

Thanks to all those who responded with suggestions. I especially would like to thank Max-  NG7M for finding the solution to a very frustrating problem.

Good morning Henning. Thank you very much for your response.
It is truly a strange problem that I am experiencing. I also am using firmware version 2.90.
It does appear that the logging software (in my case N1MM+ and DxLab, is not able to key the transceiver properly. That is why I hear not cw tone and it sounds more like just key clicks being transmitted.
I would like to hear a little bit more about how you used the Micro Keyer II as I also have one here at the remote location. Would you mind sharing with me how you wired it up to the Radio RRC unit and what settings you used in RRC Control?
Thank you in advance. Greatly appreciate your feedback.

Hello to the group.

FYI - I have been attempting to find the source of my cw issue without any success.

I have used two different logging programs (N1MM+ and DXLab Suites) in conjunction with the two PCs (a desktop and a laptop) that I have at the remote site. Both the software and computers are able to key my extra transceiver (FTdx3K) without any problem. Indicating to my mind, that the logging software is configured properly.

At the remote site I connected the TS-480 directly  to the radio body bypassing both the Radio or Control RRC's, I connected a straight key to the key input of the radio and was able to key the transmitter and monitored the output from another transceiver. I could hear the cw along with the  correct tone on my extra receiver.

At this point, I am not sure what else to do. Given that using the paddle generates the cw correctly as monitored on another receiver, I assume that my both my Radio and Control RRC's are also  configured properly.

I would be glad to try any other suggestions that anyone else may have to correct the problem.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello to the group.

I was participating in a recent cw contest and wondered why I was not making qso's. Even though  I could hear (with the sidetone) and see that the transceiver (TS-480) was being keyed and sending my callsign in cw. I am using the USB connection on the RRC Control unit for CW. I assume that my RRC setup for both the Control and Radio units are correct (as per page 93 of the Remote Rig manual) as I am able to send cw via my paddle without any issues. I have verified that my settings on the TS-480 are set properly for CW. I am suing software version 2.91 on both Control and Radio units.

When I listen to my signal on another transceiver, I realized why no one came back to my calls. It does not sound like CW. It almost appears that the computer generated cw does not have the tone nor the proper dot to dash ratio and sounds like keyclicks. Difficult to describe actually. Unfortunately, I am unable to send my MP3 recording to the group as it is not one of the allowed file types which provides a sample of the audio when I transmit with my paddle followed by transmission using my computer. At first I thought it was a computer USB port issue so I tried using another computer with the same result. I have also used N1MM+ as well as DXLab suite software and the cw generated by computer sounds the same.  Has anyone ever encountered this type of problem. I have no idea what could be causing it.

Thank you very much in advance. Greatly appreciate your assistance.

Hi Mitch. First of all I greatly appreciate all of your efforts in attempting to help me resolve this issue.

I am now using a different wireless network which has substantially more capacity and speed capability as I wanted to discount connectivity as a possible issue.

I connected to the remote radio site using RRC Micro, and then to the TS-480. Although I did not see any indication of audio packets being received by way of the green indicator in the status bar. I attempted to use the slider on the ARCP-480 software to adjust the AF audio without success.  I noted that at the radio site, I did not get the UDP cmd status error. Nevertheless, the RRC Micro timed out and I lost the radio connection and the ARCP software disconnected as well.

The next few times I attempted to connect I was able to connect to the Radio RRC but when I attempt to connect the ARCP-480 software, I get an error indicating that there is an unknown device connected to COM2 or the Baud rate does not match between the software and the transceiver. I believe that I have the COM ports and baud rates set up correctly. I have attached a screen shot of the error for your reference.

Very frustrating but I will keep at it! :-) It must be a setting that is not quite right!

Again thank you for your time and effort.

Hi Mitch/everyone.

Well, I tried for the good part of this evening to get RRC Micro to work without success. I do not get any audio coming through. Even though sometimes I am able to connect to the radio and turn it on, I do not hear any audio. When I connect via the web to the Radio RRC I see that I have the UDP cmd error issue (see attached screen shot) and then about a minute later the RRC Micro times out.

I do know that the service at the remote site is working as I can connect to the Radio control unit.

Not quite sure what to try next.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your response Mitch.
It also seems like I have a UDP cmd error when I check the status of the Radio RRC.

Will keep trying but have been for almost two days without success.

Thanks again for your assistance.

General discussion / RRC Micro Connection issue
« on: 2016-06-15, 09:55:02 »
Hello to the group.
I am having some difficulty with using my RRC Micro system while travelling in Europe.
I am presently using the following software:
RRC MIcro Version 1.10.1
RRC 1258 Version 2.91 Beta (cw support)
1274B Version 2016-05-03-v2
ARCP - 480 Kenwood Software

Just before I left home, I was able to connect successfully to the remote radio and operate with no problem at all.

Upon arriving in Europe, I have been unable to obtain any audio out of the radio. Further after a minute or so the RRC Micro software timesout. I do not see the green in the latency bar nor the audio level in the headset bar on the audio screen. I am attaching a screenshot of both RRC Micro and ARCP 480 Kenwood software.

I also activated the debug operation and have a file that I can send to you for further analysis. The internet service at both my remote site and hotel (Download 5 mbps/Upload 2 mbps) seems to be working fine.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello to the group.
I've encountered an interesting but frustrating problem.
I am using Software version 2.91 on both Control and Radio units. I have also installed the Beta version of RRC Micro to enable me to send cw via paddles. My radio is a TS-480.

The issue is that when I try to connect to the remote site I keep getting the following error messages under RTP/UDP audio status and UDP CMD status:

Status

Name   Value
P5.4   ON
Radio   ON
Connection status   Faulty(See below)
SIP status   Connected/transfering
Last SIP error   None
RTP/UDP audio status   Stalled(23)
UDP cmd status   Error(0)

SIP command timeout   0
Rx Jitter buffer size   6
Rx Jitter delay   4
Dual Rx   0
Current audio packet size   20
Current audio quality   2 - Linear 16 bits 8 kHz
SIP Out port   13000
SIP In port   13000
Audio Out port   13001
Audio In port   13001
Command Out port   13002
Command In port   13002
External SIP In port   13000
External Audio In port   13001
External Cmd In port   13002

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this. It is intermittent as sometimes I am able to connect with both the Control RRC and RRC Micro.
Please let me know if I need to add any additional information to help trouble shoot this problem.

Any assistance/guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hello group.

Charlie KB8CR found the reason for the error I was encountering. It was because I used the .zip file and not the .bin file! Operator error.
Sorry for the bandwidth. Thanks again Charlie! Appreciate your help.

Hello to the group.

I am trying to upgrade the software to test out the new CW paddle capability of the 1274B.

When I try to load the RRC1258-CRC-v2.91 software and the unit reboots, I get the following error:
Wrong File Type : Got 172 Expected 35

Not quite sure what this means. Thanks in advance.
