RRC Units for CW and Audio Only - No radio
« on: 2023-09-13, 09:17:45 »

Apologies if this has been covered previously but I couldn't find anything on the support forum.

Is it possible to use a pair of RRC-1258MkII units to transfer CW and audio over a remote connection without actually having a radio connected?

So for example, if I had a remote Flex radio and wanted to overcome the CW and audio latency issues by using RRCs but am happy to control the radio through SmartSDR - would this work?

I tried settng the Radio's Program Mode to 'Transparent' and the COM ports to 'Inactive' but the units don't seem to do what I was hoping for.

Thanks

Yes it's common to use them for Flex to overcome their CW problems. I use them for my Flex-6600. Setup the the RRCs in programmode 3, and set Auto connect = Yes, then they will connect and be connected forever. No serial port settings are needed
