Control RRC restarting
« on: 2025-06-10, 09:06:32 »
I have a Yaesu Twin setup (FT-2000) since many years. From the start I have an annoying problem, which I haven't been able to fix.
The problem is that the control side RRC-1258 is restarting from time to time. It's especially bad when this happens in the middle of a QSO (even more while working a most wanted DX or in the midst of a contest). I have tried to troubleshoot this over the years, but I have totally run out if ideas what more to try. It's very possible that I have overseen an obvious setting or possible cause. So please help me with ideas and thoughts, TNX!

Configuration facts:
RRC-1258 control side, fw version 2,95 * Bootloader 1.14 * compiler 4.6.2 (however the problem was the same with different versions too)
Connected to original power supply (but problem was the same, running on my "big" 13,8V power supply in the shack)
Connected to FT-2000 with CAT cable supplied with the Yaesu Twin Remoterig kit
Connected to computer with 2pcs RS232 serial cables (but problem is the same without these connected)
Connected to LAN (via router and swicth. However the problem was the same connecting directly to 4G router, and Ubiquiti wireless link as well)
Connected to speaker amplifier

What I know so far:

+ The problem is erratic. Sometimes it works flawlessy for 10 hours. Sometimes it restarts twice in 5 minutes
+ At times instead of restarting, it totally freezes the radio controls and a humming noise or high pitch tone is sounding in the speaker audio
+ The problem happens regardless if the radio is on or off (just powered on the RRC-1258). However radio still connected to the RRC 1258.
+ Problem was the same in 2 different QTH's
+ Problem is the same with original power supply and other power supplies
+ I replaced to PCB in the RRC 1258, no change
+ I replaced the entire RRC 1258 with a new unit, no change
+ I have tried different internet connections, no change
+ I measure 0,000V on RRC-1258 ground to common ground in my shack

As said, any further ideas are highly appreciated!
