tuning accuracy
« on: 2015-08-23, 14:20:13 »
Hello,

Am I the only one or is the Nano tuning wheel still a bit inaccurate?

Am using the IC7100 / RRC / CT17 setup and tuning seems to hesitate between going up or down.
It is quite difficult to get to the right frequency.

Btw: will tuning above 56MHz become possible with the IC7100?

Just an idea. The best way to get a more steady rotation is to place the finger on the tuning wheel and the drag it outward outside the wheel and then rotate. This way you get much better control of what you are doing.

Hi Roland,

Yes, going "out of the wheel" while tuning makes it more accurate but still it misses/confuses quite a number of encoder pulses.
As if CI-V can't keep up with the server commands.

I also tried 4800 9600 baud with same results.

Okay. I'm working on adding some additional features now so I can see if it can be "trimmed" a bit at the same time

Hi Roland,

I sure hope my wish list from many months ago gets worked on  ;)

Still at the top:
- Split support
- CW support
- Audio over loud speaker
- Profiles

Hi Roland,

the "Tuning Function" would be nice :)

Hi Roland,

Thanks for adding the V/UHF ranges to the Icom Nano for IC-7100!

Tuning is somewhat better now, but still is a bit indecisive/jumpy.

Have you ever considered stepping away from the conventional "tuning wheel" to the "thumbwheel switch" way of tuning?
Simply select the decimal and hit an up/down arrow.

If that would be easier to make accurate, I wouldn't mind missing the tuning wheel.

Not a bad idea. Will have a talk with Mike on that. Maybe some solution with both methods could be done.
