Twin setup for TS-2000
« on: 2018-07-22, 17:08:55 »
Hi,

I'm currently using RemoteRig with a TS-480 between my home QTH in Redmond, WA and my station in Germany with great success.
As a next step to upgrade I was considering the TS-590sg twin setup as I already own one. This would aside from a much better receiver
get me way better user interface. The TS-590sg however doesn't have 2m or 70cm which brings me to the TS-2000 which I also owned.
VHF/UHF activity in Europe seems much stronger than in the US, so it would be great to be able to use a TS-2000 pair to preserver the
user interface as the D700 control panel doesn't seem too comfortable, especially in contest operations.

Any plans to enable this feature?

Hi

There is no such plans, The twin solutions needs exremly much development, if it's even possible. Often the CAT-protcol do not support all functions so the functionallity would be limited and difficult to explain.

The RC-2000 control works OK I think, but the VFO with steps is not optimal of course. I have seen somewhere that it can be replaced by a normal VFO without the steps

Hi Mike,

Hi Willi,

As mentioned in my original post, the D700 control panel (which is the same as mentioned in the post you linked) is not really the best user experience
compared to the full panel of the TS-2000.

I guess the question really is if a radio even needs to be connected to the RemoteRig boxes to send stuff like mic audio and CW paddle keying.
If not, then indeed remote control software could be the ticket with the RR boxes serving the hardware devices.

Hi guys!

Old post, sri.

Besides the not so ergonomic RC-2000 I also use Hamradio deluxe with a Contour ShuttleXpress, itīs not a real VFO, however itīs way more better than the RC-2000.
