HI Mitch,

Stupid I am !
Of course does the control side not use USB to carry AF ! I need some holidays ...  ;D

Thanks for clarifications and happy holidays.

HI Mitch,

Thanks for the answer.
No, I don't use the twin configuration. I actually use COM2 on remote RRC1258 to CAT the TS590s via its RS232 input.

But I would like to use ONLY its USB port for AF & CAT.

On control side, I use the RRC1258 USB port for doing both.

I must say that it's a bit confusing. It's probably clear once you know it, but not intuitive. :-)

Configuration, RRC 1258 / need COM0 understanding

Hi all,

I need to clarify one thing.
Am I correct if I understand that COM0 is dedicated to the CAT ? And that it can rooted to COM1, COM2 or USB ?

I would like to use the CAT via the USB port with my TS590s.

Thanks for any clarification.

Hi Denis,

Thanks for the info. Nice project.
Not QRV in SO2R ...

Feature Requests / Better Winkey support
« on: 2020-04-24, 19:55:50 »

It would be nice if more Winkeyer compatibility were added.
The actual set of commands does not allow flexible usage of the keyer and makes it little compatible with softwares using the Winkeyer.

Any chance to see this one day ?

Hi Dennis,

I was about to do the same.. Before finding the solution, i even quickly built a K3NG keyer with an Arduino just to be sure that it was a Remoterig problem.
With this simple keyer, i could key perfectly and all softwares were working OK.

The problem comes from the very few commands that the RRC Winkeyer recognizes.
It is certainly not a great deal to add the full set of Winkey commands or at least the most important.

Let's keep finger crossed !

General discussion forum / Re: RF NOISE AT 2-4 Mhz

Noise can come from everything and everywhere...
Have you tracked down your problem ?

Plug and unplug one cable after the other and at each end at a time...

I've had strange behaviors with shielded Ethernet cables (FTP or STP) producing more noise than unshielded  (UTP)...
You have to test, find the cause and find a solution..

Each case is different.

Good luck,

No one here...  :(

I've been in touch with K4CY the Logger32 programmer.
He very kindly and quickly found a workaround and now it seems to work.

Super service, very rarely found even with paid and professionnal software !!  ;)
hats off !

But i'm still interested in the RRC Winkey protocol compatibility...  ;)

Hi all,

After 2 days of searching and twicking, i finaly found the origin of the first problem !

The latency is NOT coming from the Winkeyer but from the computer !
I was feeding the RRC SP output to the computer (in order to use some digital modes as well) and was listening to the computer speaker output. The small latency introduced by the sound card was enough to disturb me.
I got a phone call from a friend who had the same bad experience...  ;D

Now i would like to solve the compatibility problem with Logger32 and need to know a bit more about the K1EL Winkey2 compatibility. Anyone ?

I hope this helps...

General discussion forum / Winkey : problem and features..
« on: 2020-04-22, 06:29:22 »
Hi all,
I have the greatest difficulties to use the RRC1258 Winkey keyer.

I'm totaly unable to use it in sending a clean CW with the paddles. I found out that there is a small delay between the paddle squeezing and the monitor.
This delay is long enough to disturb my brain and i'm "out of sync".

In the keyer settings, i reduced the key delay and lf delay to 0, but there is still some delay.

Also, using a COM port sniffer i noticed that most of the Winkey commands are not taken into account, making it difficult to set the keyer how i would like and/or to let the logging software "talk" to the keyer.

So :
1) Am i the only one with this keying problem and can it be corrected ? Is there another problem with the keyer ?
2) What set of Winkey commands are recognized by the RRC ?

Can you send a copy of your MMVARI settings ? PTT and keying .

I didn' konw about  FSK8250.. I just downloaded COMFSK and FSk8250. I will have a look.

Hi all,

I glad to say that my remote station is working ! Everything seems to be just fine and i made SSB, CW and RTTY QSOs...

I couldn't manage to make MMVARI work with RRC1258. Did anyone succeed and can share the settings ?
It works perfectly with MMTTY, but MMVARI seems to be different in the way it keys the FSK ....

OK Mike,

I use SEVEN not Win10. The problem is the same on several computers.

Hi all,

Is anyone else using the Winkeyer in RRC1258 with LOGGER32 ?

I do have problem to make them work together. It works with other softwares like Wintest and WKtest.

Than, it should be a good idea to correct this...  :)
Combining that with my inexperience, i lost quite some time trying to make this work !
