I would have already done so, Carlos, but I don't have your e-mail address. That is why I
requested that you send me an e-mail.

I did that, as I always do when I attempt to reply directly, but it didn't come up with anything on his entry.

Prior to my loss of DynDNS account my RemoteRig.com was working great. I have gotten _many_ hours of enjoyment on the air. I was actually designing my own solution until finding the RemoteRig.com which was exactly how I was putting together my system. You guys have obviously done better than what I could do on my own.

When lossing the DynDNS account I needed to upgrade to get access to RemoteRig.com ddns service. I after the upgrade the ddns entries would not work. I can enter in the IP addresses assigned by the DSL provider and everything works; but will not work using the RemoteRig.com ddns.

I see there is a known problem for low serial number Rig controller and Remote Rig units. I have a low serial number unit: 2629.

What is the fix to gain access to the RemoteRig.com ddns service?

Don

Hi Don

It's no known problem at all with remoterig ddns. It should work if you upgrade the firmware and do as the manual says. I just checked and there is no update from s/n 2629 yet. You can see on the radio-RRC status page if the ddns is OK.

Hi there:

I'm trying the Microbit DynDNS status web page, and I see my IP hadn't changed since March (tody is May 31st).

I don't know why. I've tried updating trough Dynamic DNS settings page in my RRC (as seen in the manual), and the server doesn't update my IP.

Could someone explaine (for dummies) how the Microbit Server works?

Juan Carlos,

The first question that anyone will ask you: has your external IP number changed since March?
If so, how often does it change?

Hi Mitch:

Thanks for your attention.

Yes, the external IP had changed several times since then. It changes on a weekly basis.

I think my problem is the DNS server. I always have problems when the IP changes, even with dyndns. I've been using the system with dydns.org but, updating the new external IP through the dyndns.org web page.

I've been using google dns server (8.8.4.4), I don't know what server do I have to use. Should I use the router IP as DNS server as well as gate?

My configurations at Radio Site is:

Router - ----------- NanoStation M2 -------------Radio RRC with Fix IP

The Status is always:

Dynamic DNS status   Unknown
Ping status (watchdog)   Off
DNS status   Querying status
Active profile:   Default
PTT status:   OFF

Thanks...

Hi

what DNS do your PC use ? if you connect the PC to the same network as the RRC and then check "networks connection details" in your PC. Enter the same ip number for the DNS in the RRC as your PC use.

"DNS status   Querying status" means that the DNS isn't working ok, and since the Dynamic DNS depends on it then it won't work either. You could also try OpenDNS' DNS servers at IP address:208.67.222.222 or 208.67.220.220 if other fails.

Hi everyone:

I've tried with different DNS servers as google, OpenDNS and more and is always the same. The system is working with dyndns but when the external IP at Radio site changes, I have to update this IP using the dyndns.org web page. Even with ddn.remoterig neither works.

Is it necesary to have the system working while I try with another DNS server? Right now the control RRC is switch off and away from me, I'm setting the Radio RRC only.

Another question is how can I manually update my external IP at ddns.remoterig? I'm doing it using "Dynamic DNS Settings" in my Radio RRC and the server doesn't update my IP.

Thanks, 73's

As long as the DNS(not Dynamic DNS) isn't working Dynamic DNS won't work either. It sounds strange that not a single DNS server is working for you. It is like the RRC is unable to communicate with the DNS server.

Why bother with strange DNS servers, try first with the same as your PC, at the same network use. And in 99% of the setups DNS ip-adress is the same as the gateway ip-adress. The router relay the DNS-querys so the user do not need to know if the ISP change the IP of the their DNS-servers, in some router you have to enable the function it's often called DNS-relay.

Hi there:

I leave it with google dns server (8.8.8.8). This server is working ok with my pc. The system is working fine if i connect wit SIP=external IP or updating the external IP using the dyndns.org web page.

I'm going to try setting the dyndns account in the router. Right now, I have ddns.remoterig in the dynamic dns setting at radio RRC and dyndns.org in the router. Only the Radio RRC is switched on, the control site is OFF.

The ddns.remoterig server is still unupdated.

Tomorrow I'll switch on the control site and try again.
