Hi

Nothing can be done at control end besides adjusting gain

When using the orginal mic you have it totaly issolated by the plastic housing thats why it doesn't show any problem.

I will try to spend some time to make a Issolation board where all signals inlcuding the RS-232 ports are issolated

but I can't say when it's finnished.

Hi see answers below

1)  What is the spec of the jumper wires.  I want to redo the jumpers just in case there is a bad connection.  The wires bend very easily and are difficult to re-use once they are bent?

EKUX red 0,28mm² diam 0,6 mm

2)  Would doing the mic gain mod help overcome the problems we are having?

No it has nothing do to with RFI, but the settings has to match, to get the  right levels.

Have you tried to increase the LF-levels trough the system so you can reduce the mic gain on the radio, probably it get less sensitive to RF with lower mic gain ?

3)  Would it help to put the RRC in a screened box?

No my experience is that this is an error in the TS-480 which causes this problem. The engineer must have had a bad day when developing the TS-480 mic amplifier. The problems are caused by ground problems. Im not aware of any of these problem with any other rig, even Kenwood rigs. If you have RS-232 ports connected to the RRC, test to remove them, ground loops via the RS-232 eq. get things worse also.

4) Would it help to put a 1:1 decoupling transformer in the mic connection between the RRC and Rig?

No,there is already a 1:1 transformer in the RRC ( see pdf.manual). I think issolating the other signals would be more effecive but it's not that easy of course

5)  There are a number of errors and inconsistencies in the Kenwood documentation for the RJ45 mic connector
    a) pin numbering is non-conventional
    b) the mic ground and system ground pins are swapped round in the User Manual
Can you confirm that the wiring schematic for the RJ45 lead from RRC to Rig,   and the jumper wiring diagrams are correct bearing in mind these errors.

As far as I know my drawings are correct, I understand from this forum other people has verified it also.

Mike

If they works on a local LAN the RRC-boxes are OK, they don't see any difference between LAN or Internet. Then the problem is a router/internet issue. Always update to the latest firmware in the routers, lot of routers are sent out with bad firmwares. (specially D-link). But if you don't believe in the system, send them back and you get your money back, I haven't heard anybody else given up before.

Hi

Use a PC-program like Ping plotter standard to examine your internet connection.
The Remoterig boxes does not disconnect as long as the Internet connection is up

It sounds like a typical ADSL problem.

the connection with the telephone station is lost and the ADSL modem reconnect, it use to take about 30 secs here in Sweden.
when you loose connection check status LED.s on your ADSL modem. It's difficult if it's in the radio end of course.
You can use a freeware like pingplot if you wan't to have some statistics.

Hej

Hi

I think the main problem is that the radio will not start without having the controlpanel connected to te radiobody, and you cannot have your remote controlpanel connected at the same time as connecting remotely from the Micro-RRC.

My intention is that we should implement some software support in the RRC to solve this more automatic for users of IC-703/706 and TS-480 but it may take a while

In your case you have already connected the mic and speaker audio via the IC-706 separation cable, the problem is the PTT which is not hardware in the existing setup. I think there is a extra ptt input in the 8 pin connector on the back that could be used, but this could be tricky today

The guys working with the software development are on vaccation until mid August, there will not be any fixes before that. As it says on the website it's a beta version and there are probably bugs.

There is no such limitation, check if you have spaces there

Hi

There are not so many producers of the chip for USB-to Serial conversion but they are sold in many different housings and under different brand names. So you have to check what kind of chipset they use.

I have heard before that some USB-to serial converters and HRD are not fitting toghether very well.

I have used converters based on the Prolific Chip Set and they works well for me.

Hej

Det enda du måste göra i RRCn är att aktivera DHCP.

I PC måste du aktivera delning av WiFi anslutningen, det är lite småkrångligt och olika i olika OS men det funkar bra när man väl gjort det.

Hi
there is only 3 serial ports in the RRC so there is not so much to do. On the other hand there are lot of equipment avaliable for remote serialports for example Tibbo DS203.
